I'm currently the Outsource Review Artist at Firaxis on Civ7, since Nov 2022. My work primarily focuses on reviewing work from external partners to ensure it aligns with the game's style and internal standards. This includes environments from concept, model, and engine implementation, and character and units from concept, model, and engine implementation. The areas I own on an outsourced task are concept, model, and engine review.
I'm a 2D generalist. I left my job as a Senior Production Artist for RT Direct dev projects at Rooster Teeth Animation in September 2021 to focus on self development and burnout recovery. My work involved quickly designing multiple character iterations based off client needs and feedback, along with helping direct other artists across multiple projects. I also helped paint backgrounds following a predefined layout, drew turnarounds, and helped guide artists through iteration-feedback process.
Worked closely with multiple clients, directors, and producers to discuss and learn what they have in mind, then utilize Photoshop to draft production artwork from concept to finish within a time constraint. Turnaround can vary depending on complexity of task, from several done within a day or two (props, character designs, simple backgrounds), up to a week (backgrounds for larger scenes).
Main disciplines include designing characters + turnarounds, backgrounds, and props. This includes communicating regularly with other members of the team - animators, directors, producers, other artists - to gather and apply constructive feedback, and ensure the design and file layout will work most efficiently for anyone who needs to access it.
